Home Remedies for Sun Damaged Face

Posted on 17 October 2016

When having your face exposed to the sun it causes ultraviolet radiation in the sun to affect melanin in the skin which is the pigment that gives skin its color. UV radiation tends to cause permanent changes in the skin color where it appears like large freckles(age spots) which is a sign of premature aging and can make you appear older than you actually are. Here are some steps to help reduce this problem!

Apple Cider Vinegar and Onion Juice

This mixture has skin lightening properties to help reduce sun spots. To create this mixture all you have to do is blend or chop an onion, pour the chopped onion into a cheesecloth or strainer. Now with whatever amount you used, make sure you mix it with an equal amount of apple cider vinegar. Next you just need to take a cotton ball and dip it into the mixture. Apply this to the skin and leave it on for at least 30 minutes and apply it once a day for several weeks!

Lemon Juice

Lemons contain citric acid, which is an alpha-hydroxy acid used to encourage cell turnover in the skin.  Lemons are one of the most potent skin-lightening remedies. All you have to do is squeeze lemon juice onto your finger or a cotton swab and apply to the age spot. If you apply it in the morning leave it on for 30 minutes, then remove. If applying at night, leave on overnight! You should see changes in about two months!

Castor Oil

Castor oil is derived from seeds of the ricinus communis bean. Sun damage can tend to cause scaly growths called actinic keratoses, and that's what castor oil treats. You can purchase castor oil at most health foods stores. Apply the castor oil directly to the age spot. It will penetrate deeply into the skin and can smooth out these rough, sun-damaged spots. Because it also has anti-inflammatory properties, it aids in reducing sun-damaged spots.
